- Situated in the utmost North of the country, part of it is in the National
Park of Peneda-Gerês. Montalegre borders on Galacië and is just
over 100 km away from Santiago de Compostela, 120 km from Oporto and close
to the Douro.
For those coming from outside of Portugal to visit us, there are regular flights from the international airports Lisbon, Oporto and the Spanish Santiago de Compostela. By land the way to reach us from North-Europe through France and Spain is by the border-crossing Montalegre-Xinzo de Limia. Montalegre has a good access and connecting roads. |
